About Me

My Approach

At Treu Therapy, I believe in the healing power of play and animals. That's why I incorporate an animal partner into our therapy sessions to help my clients feel more comfortable and at ease. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and Animal Assisted Therapist (AAT). I am trained in a variety of evidence-based techniques to help children, teens, and adults overcome emotional challenges and live happier, more fulfilling lives.

About
What is...

Play Therapy is not the same as regular, everyday play. While spontaneous play is a natural and essential part of the developmental process, Play Therapy is a systematic and therapeutic approach.  Play Therapists (RPT) have earned a graduate mental health degree and are licensed mental health professionals with extensive training, supervision, and education in Play Therapy. Play Therapy incorporates a growing number of evidence-based practices and techniques and should only be utilized by specially trained mental health professionals.

What is...

Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) adds the elements of playfulness, humor, and lightness to the therapeutic process, and can be helpful for clients of all ages. It focuses heavily on relationships in which appropriately-trained therapists and animals engage with child, family, and adults primarily in play interventions aimed at improving the client’s psychosocial health, while simultaneously ensuring the animal’s well-being and voluntary engagement in the process. Play and playfulness are essential ingredients of the interactions and the relationship.

Individual & Family Sessions

As a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I am dedicated to helping clients improve their overall well-being. I work with clients to develop healthy coping strategies and improve their emotional regulation, attachment, communication, and mindfulness skills. I work collaboratively with clients and families to ensure that I am providing the best care possible to help them meet their individual goals.
